Empathy is defined as, “the ability to understand and share the feelings of another.” It is the capacity to put one’s self in another’s shoes and feel what that person is going through and share their emotions and feelings. It is the recognition and validation of a person’s fear, anxiety, pain, and worry. It is the ability to understand another person’s feelings and facilitate better communication.
Empathy encompasses a connection and an understanding that includes the mind, body, and soul. It is a highly effective and powerful communication tool that can help build trust, calm anxiety, and improve health outcomes.
