WEBINAR: Antimicrobial Stewardship in Long Term Care: The Time has Come – How Prescribers can Lead the Way

We are pleased to present a no-cost educational session for Long Term Care prescribers entitled: Antimicrobial Stewardship in Long Term Care: The Time has Come: How Prescribers can Lead the Way. Hosted by the New England QIN-QIO in partnership with the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (MDPH), this webinar will feature presentations from Shira Doron, MD, Kirthana Beaulac, PharmD and Gabriela Andujar Vazquez MD, Antimicrobial Stewardship specialists at Tufts Medical Center.
This webinar will be held on Tuesday, February 26th, from 11:00am to 12:00pm and is acceptable for up to 1.00 Prescribed credit (CME)by the American Academy of Family Physicians.
By attending this webinar, participants will be able to:
- Describe the local and regional landscape of antibiotic resistance;
- Identify key considerations for antibiotic selection;
- Recognize common scenarios when antibiotics are prescribed but potentially not needed; and
- Consider the role of collaborative care and a multi-disciplinary approach for prudent antibiotic use
More About our Speakers
Shira Doron, MD, FIDSA is a physician in the Division of Infectious Diseases at Tufts Medical Center. She has been the physician head of the Antimicrobial Stewardship program there since 2005 and is also the Associate Hospital Epidemiologist
Kirthana Beaulac, PharmD, BCPS is the pharmacist head of the Antimicrobial Stewardship program at Tufts Medical Center, as well as the Infectious Diseases Pharmacist for the institution.
Gabriela Andujar Vazquez, MD is a physician in the Division of Infectious Diseases at Tufts Medical Center. She is part of Tufts Medical Center Antimicrobial Stewardship team and has a special interest in rapid diagnostics and stewardship in the outpatient setting.
